About Dr. Scott Cunneen

Dr. Cunneen is the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, CA. He has extensive experience as a surgeon, and is a well-respected speaker and author. Dr. Cunneen served as Associate Director of Surgical Critical Care and Trauma and Assistant Director of the Surgical Residency Program at Cedars-Sinai, and is a member of the trauma surgery call panel at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Dr Cunneen went on to earn his master’s degrees from Georgetown University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He earned his medical degree from Georgetown University, where he was awarded membership in the medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha in 1989. He served his internship and residency in general surgery at the Cedars-Sinai’s Department of Surgery. In 1995 Dr. Cunneen was named Chief Resident in the Department of Surgery, and in 1997 he completed a fellowship in surgical critical care.

Dr. Cunneen is active in regional and national medical organizations including the American Medical Association, Society of Critical Care Medicine, Association of Program Directors in Surgery, California Medical Association, and Los Angeles Medical Association.

Dr. Cunneen has written articles and given presentations on a variety of subjects at medical conferences around the country. He is currently accepting new patients for bariatric surgery, general surgery, hernia repair, GERD treatment, and other stomach and digestive surgeries.
